We were so fortunate to be able to travel to Washington DC this past weekend! This was our second trip there since our friend Steph moved there two and a half years ago. I looked back at pictures from our last trip and I can't believe how much Alex has grown. Joe's brother, Bob, also lives in DC and it was great to be able to spend a good chunk of time with him as well. One of the "tourist-y" things we did while we were there was visit the Capital. It was very worthwhile.
Steph was our fantastic tour guide for our trip. I'm so thankful for such a good friend!
Inside the Capital was very interesting. Because we visited in the off season, we were able to get in for a tour right away. The history of everything that has happened in that building was quite incredible. The artwork and statues were also very cool. Everything that was in the Capital had a meaning and each piece of art was thought out and planned.
Because Congress is currently in recess, we were able to get passes to see the House and Senate Chambers. They wouldn't let us take pictures in there, but it was really incredible. Alex kept asking when we were going to see "a house". We spent most of the afternoon in the Capital, and I truly felt honored to be able to see it and share that experience with Alex. The rest of the trip, whenever we would see the Capital building in the distance, Alex would say, "Remember when we went inside the Capital?"
Pure Joy! Gramma
