The next morning we woke up ready to explore Colonial Williamsburg. The one problem was that it was pouring rain. Not the best conditions for walking around outside. Luckily, Steph remembered that there was a big Yankee Candle store nearby that we could check out as we waited for the rain to clear up. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but this wasn't just a huge candle store, there were several boutique type shops, and because it was Easter, they had a bunch of fun kid activities going on too! Alex was excited for the scavenger hunt, where kids had to find Easter signs hidden throughout. He also made a stop to visit the Easter Bunny...
And Santa... (they also had a boutique where it's Christmas all year round, it even snowed every 4 minutes!)
Once Alex had found all of the Easter signs, he got a pair of bunny ears for finishing the scavenger hunt!
At this point, we had spent a good two hours there, and the rain had finally quit. So, it was time to make our way to Colonial Willilamsburg. One of the activities that they had for kids there, was called RevQuest. Basically, you had to search the town for clues to figure out who was the spy during the American Revolution. Alex loved it. He had to go talk to different townspeople and go into buildings for clues to figure out where to go next. He had to figure out different words, which we would text to a certain number, and then we would get the next clue. It was great fun and Steph and Alex figured out the answer and solved the mystery!!
Just in case Alex hadn't had enough scavenger hunts yet that day, when we got back to Steph's apartment later that night, the Easter Bunny had come (good thing I sent him a note letting him know we were going to be in DC!) and hidden eggs all over the place!! I'm pretty sure Alex thought this was the best day ever!
Whew... another wonderfully fun and exhausting day! We all slept really well that night!
