Yesterday marked the end of Alex's second year of soccer! It was another great year and he really enjoyed it and learned a lot! He had a really good coach again this year, who had so much patience with the kids and was really encouraging. We are thankful for the parents who volunteer to be coaches! Joe and I were really proud of Alex for engaging with the game more this year. He got a lot more chances to kick and pass the ball and he loved being goalie and got some awesome saves!
Tad was Alex's biggest fan! He came to every single game this year and cheered loudly for Alex! He would see the kids go out on the field and his legs would start kicking... he was ready to get out there and play too!
Alex's coach gave each of the kids a patch after each game, encouraging them for things that they did well in the game! Alex got a couple of lightning bolts for hustling, a couple of "D"s for defense and a couple of stars for an overall great game! Alex loved getting his patches each week and thanks to Auntie Bonnie, who attached them to his jersey each week, he got to proudly display them all!
For most of the games we had nice and sunny weather... but, the last two games were pretty chilly! We really had to bundle up! Yesterday it drizzled through most of the second half! By the end of the game we were all pretty wet, tired, and ready to head home, but the kids were excited to get their patches, medals, and team pictures! Alex is going to take his jersey and medal to school tomorrow to show his class (you can see some of his patches in this picture!)
We are so proud of Alex and had so much fun cheering for McRae Park Light Green this year!!! (Here are a couple of videos showing Alex starting out the game with some good kicks and also his good goalie skills! As usual, sorry for the shaky camera work!!)
