My first attempt at scheduling a birthday party for Alex with his school friends was a bust! Only one out of 10 kids that we invited could come. I had several moments of panic as I tried to figure out how I was going to tell Alex that none of his friends were available for his party. Then I called the Raptor Center at the U of MN, where we had scheduled his party, and they were gracious enough to reschedule for us. The next date that we chose worked much better for his friends, and we ended up with seven 6 year olds who had a blast celebrating with Alex! The kids were thrilled that they got to see plenty of live Raptors and play some fun bird games (like "pin the tail on the red tailed hawk", "bird bingo", and "throw the bean bag in the owl's mouth"!!!) All in all the party was quite the success!!
