When the calendar flipped over to July last week, I was in complete denial. I feel like summer is just getting started, and here we almost two weeks into July. Well, when I looked at what fun we've already had this summer, I relaxed a little and am trying to just enjoy each day!
Once school got out back in June, Alex was so excited to pack up his pillow, suitcase, and fishing rod and head to South Dakota for a week with Gramma and Grampa! Alex went to Vacation Bible School at Grampa's church each evening and the days were filled with lots of other fun! Alex got a fishing rod and a tent from his grandparents for Christmas and he was so excited to have a chance to use them. He was very patient while fishing at the LaBolt Dam, just waiting to catch his first fish...
Waiting some more...
Finally, the waiting paid off...
I love that smile! So proud and excited to have caught a fish on his own!!!
They had lots of other fun too, like geocaching, sleeping in the tent, playing games, helping clean the church basement when water seeped in, VBS, and visiting friends! I loved hearing about all of their great adventures.... lots of memories being made!!
Joe and I enjoyed the week as well. I'm not sure we had quite as much fun as Alex, we did have to work after all, but we took the opportunity to spend some time together! We volunteered for the Pet Expo and hung out with Pete the Chihuahua, had a wonderful dinner at the Blackbird Cafe, made time for an ice cream date, and picked the first produce from our garden! I even had time to sneak away for a fun girl's night on Eat Street with friends from work. That cheese board was sooo yummy!
We sure missed our boy while he was gone, but we were so glad he had such a wonderful time in South Dakota!

We had so much fun with Alex that week...it was such a blast and so great. He's our buddy and we love him so much! Glad you two got a little date time too! :)
