Half

One downside to having a summer birthday, is that you never get to celebrate with your class at school!  This year, Alex's class celebrated his special day on his half birthday!  He got to be the "star of the day", which includes being the line leader and carrying the lunch boxes to the lunchroom.  I could tell that he did indeed feel special on this day!  Joe thought it would be fun to celebrate his half birthday at home too, so he picked up a half cake!  Alex thought it was great!

Alex's teacher also had each of the kids write a little birthday note to the "Star of the Day".  Alex loved reading through the notes!  Some sentiments were simple "happy birthday" greetings, others were, "you are my best friend", "you are a great reader", or one of my favorites, "you are cul".  It was so fun watching Alex read his notes, as a cute little smile would creep up as he flipped through them.  I love how encouraging it was to him!

Happy day to my favorite 7 and a half year old!
