A few updates...

Life has been busy lately!  Joe had some minor surgery last week to remove a saliva gland that had some calcium build up in it.  The surgery went well, but he's been pretty sore since then, as it continues to heal.  We also put an offer on a house that we really liked, but after negotiating on a number of issues over the last two weeks, the deal fell through this weekend.  It's a bummer, but we are moving on, convinced that there's something even better out there for us!

We spent a nice Easter with my Dad and Chris and Alex had fun dying Easter eggs and running through the backyard looking for hidden eggs!

Our dear friends, Bob and Sara, gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Natalie Ruth Irene, this week.  We were so glad to be able to visit them in the hospital and get some quality cuddling time with the sweet baby!  We are so thrilled for our friends!

I was also invited back to my grad school, Lewis University, to present my Capstone project.  So, Joe and I took a quick trip down to Chicago this past week!  Gramma Linda came to our house to take care of Alex while we were gone, so that he wouldn't miss any school!  This was the first trip since Alex was born that we have gone away by ourselves.  We had a very nice time and enjoyed the flexibility and freedom that comes with traveling sans kiddo.  He had lots of fun with Gramma too and helped her take care of Tad, went on a bike ride, took a trip to the Woodlake Nature Center and played lots of games.  It was great to be able to leave and know that my mom and Alex would have a good time together!

Once we got my presentation out of the way....

....we had fun!!  We visited a great Swedish Bakery in the Andersonville neighborhood.... we had lunch at Panozzo's deli (which we saw on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives!) which was awesome and delicious... we strolled around the Chicago Institute of Arts... we actually went into a coffee shop and sat down and drank lattes.... we ate Giordano's deep dish pizza (yummy!)... and we just hung out.  Joe and I had fun together!

And then we were ready to come home and see our boy!!  It was good to be away and it was so good to come home!!
