The Bell Museum!

Alex, Gramma, and I took a fun trip to the Bell Museum on Friday!!  If you've never been to this museum on the U of MN campus, it's full of dioramas depicting many Minnesota habitats and animals!  One of the neat things about this museum, is that my mom has memories of visiting here when she was a young girl, and then she also took Bonnie and me here many times when we were kids as well!  Now it was time for Alex to enjoy it!  He was very interested in the different kinds of animals and loved to spot all the little details in the dioramas, like the gophers in the field or the frogs in the pond.

Since we went on a Friday afternoon, there weren't many others visiting the museum, so we could wander at our leisure.   Besides the dioramas, they have a large touch and see room where there are lots of bones, animals furs, live reptiles, and displays which kids can touch and interact with!  Alex really enjoyed the display that showed all of the different bugs and animals that live in dead trees!

There was one exhibit that Alex came back to at least three times!  It was a scope that you could look through into one of the dioramas that has a ton of birds in it.  So, kind of like bird watching!  He spotted every bird in that display!  I think his favorite was the Greater Yellowlegs bird!  We all had such a great time, it was hard to leave!
