So, I had a post all written up on Friday, lamenting the last couple of weeks and all of the craziness that's been going on with our family. I didn't have time to finalize it before the weekend and now I'm finally getting back to it. The weekend gave me some good perspective. So, I erased everything I wrote and I'm starting over...
Don't get me wrong, the last couple of weeks have been rough. Alex has been diagnosed with a mild case of asthma, Joe and I are both recovering from severe sinus infections, Joe's back and hips have been very sore as he transitions from his air cast to his regular boot, we heard there were no new updates in the search for a treatment/cure for MD, Joe has to have surgery to remove a small mass from his neck, just to name a few things we've had heaped on our plate recently. We were starting to feel like we couldn't handle much more... of anything.
But, then the weekend happened. We pulled out a big roll of paper and had some fun coloring and tracing! This was truly an example of finding joy in the simple things in life.

On Saturday, both Joe and I got some much needed cleaning, organizing and fixing done around the house. Plus, I think that having the windows open and the sun shining, helped keep us motivated. In the evening, my sweet boy climbed up in my lap and asked me to tell him a story about when he was a baby... I told him about how he was so little when he was born, and all of the people that came to the hospital to visit and hold him. Oh, the time was so precious... even the nebulizer Alex now has to have before bed each night, gives us another opportunity to read books and cuddle. I can't complain about that at all.
Today, we celebrated our sweet little friend Claire's dedication to the Lord. It was a lovely morning and great to spend time with friends and another beautiful day to spend outdoors. Oh, and Joe and I are still laughing about Alex's comment this morning as he was going to sit in timeout (right after he put his cowboy boots on)... "But, Daddy, Cowboys cannot go to timeout, they have to go find their horse..."

So, although, this all feels pretty overwhelming, I'm trying to rest in the peace of the Lord... take deep breaths and try not to miss the absolute joy that Alex brings to us every day.
