Musings on being a 2 year old's mom...

As promised, here are more pictures of our Alex.

It is amazing to be parents of a two year old. Alex is so full of energy, personality, new opinions and just plain sweetness. He is a very positive kid, always saying things like "Good job, Mommy" or "That's right, Daddy!"

I really love to be around Alex. We went out to eat last night with some friends and ended up at Bonnie and Tim's to play games. Alex was such a good boy, playing and rolling the dice, and sitting on the couch cuddling. We had stayed out a little later than usual (yes, folks, 9:45 pm is now late for us!) and as we were driving home, Alex barely awake, I told him "I love hanging out with you"... he replied... "oh yeah".

Both Joe and I like to sing with Alex. Joe thinks up songs and dances with him and I try to teach him songs of my childhood. There's a very special lullaby that both my mom and dad sang to me for as long as I can remember... and I've sang it to Alex quite a few times and this week, he sang it with me... it was a very cool, surreal thing to be singing that song to my baby... was it really that long ago that my parents were singing it to me??

I'm amazed that kissing ouchies really does help... and that making silly faces, changes the mood... and getting excited about the little stuff makes everyone appreciate life more... and seeing my husband play with my son melts my heart, more then I thought possible.

I am very blessed with a fabulous, silly, happy, inquisitive, smart, handsome young boy. I thank God that He has given me the opportunity to be a part of his wonderful life.

  2. Amazing reflections and pictures. As a mother, I can relate to so much of what you wrote. Good for you, recording the cute things Alex says. I always think I'll never forget the things my kids say, but I do. So writing them down is so important! Let's get together soon....it's been a long time!
