Big Day!

It has been a big day at our house!  This morning we added a new member to our family.  Her name is Jilly (aka Jilly Boo... if you've ever read the Skippyjon Jones books, he has a sister named Jilly Boo!) and she is a sweet and mellow puppy.

We got her from a rescue organization, and she had been at a foster home for the last few weeks.  Joe and I had been considering getting a dog for the past couple months and Alex has been begging us for a dog for well over a year.  We knew we wanted to support a rescue organization this time, so Joe began the search for our perfect dog.  We, obviously, were looking for a dog that would be great with kids and one that would be mellow.  As much as we loved our last dog, Skipper, he was neither good with kids or mellow.

This morning Joe went to visit a foster mom that had four potential dogs for adoption, and there were two that we were very interested in.  Since we had decided to keep it a secret from Alex (to avoid any unnecessary heartbreak), he had no idea what we were scheming.  Joe called me and we decided that the 15 week old, possible Beagle, Lab, Boxer (since she was a rescue, it's not certain her breed) was a great match for our family.  When Joe walked in with a box, Alex had no idea what was happening.  (Sorry for the jiggly camera work, but it was so cute I had to share!)

She has been such a good girl so far and we already love her!

It also started snowing today.  It's easier for me to handle, when the weather guy says it's going to be 50 degrees next week, but Alex was super excited and got his gear on to go out and play in it!  Jilly went out for a little bit too, but then came in and cuddled inside with me where it's warm!

And to top it all off, this evening, Alex lost his second tooth!

Whew, what a busy and exciting day!!!

OOOhhhh she's cute! Good luck with her. I'm jealous! Congratulations Alex for 100 days in bed and for a tooth fairy visit.
