Alex has always been very interested in art. He has loved going to the Institute of Arts with Gramma Linda, and Bon and Tim got him a great kids book with famous paintings a couple of years ago. But, in the last couple of weeks, he's been even more fascinated with looking at art. It started with his class field trip to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts (Joe and I both got to go with his class!)
When he got home he wanted to paint some "modern art" of his own... so I got some canvas board and some acrylic paints from the art store and away he went.
We've also spent a lot of time looking through my book called The History of Art. I've showed him some of my favorite paintings and he's chosen some of his own. I have to say our tastes are a bit different, but I love that he likes to talk about art with me! One of my favorite artists is Degas, and I particularly like his ballerina paintings. Alex, on the other hand, loves the painting on the right by Edvard Munch called "The Scream". To each his own, I guess!
I love the conversations that come about when we talk about art! Alex and I have decided that we must go to Paris someday to see the art museums there.

This warms my heart to pieces!
