On Sunday morning we woke Alex up and told him we were taking a drive. He asked where we were going, and Joe told him it was a Mother's Day surprise. After a stop, where I got a delicious Mother's Day coffee, we were on our way. Before too long, Alex decided that we were going on a "long trip", since we let him watch a movie in the van. He was pretty sure that we were going to South Dakota, and he was right! Not only was it a surprise to Alex, but my mom had no idea that we were coming either. When we pulled into the driveway of the parsonage a little before noon, we unpacked lunch and Joe took Alex next door to the church. They got there right as Grandpa Mark was finishing up the service, and when he was done, Alex ran up to the piano where Gramma Linda was playing and surprised her! She couldn't believe that we were there!
After lunch we visited and played games!

We were then invited over to Cecil and Joyce's to see some newborn kittens. Alex was so excited. The kitten couldn't have been more than a couple of days old. Alex loved holding him and kept repeating "he's so cute." It was wonderful.
This city boy also got a chance to bottle feed a calf. He loved running around the barn in the mud and checking out all the cows. It was great fun!!!
We had such a great time on our whirlwind trip to South Dakota! We all had a wonderful Mother's Day!

It was so wonderful!
